Of vegetarianism, pranayama, meditation and yoga
    #8082189 -

Swami Parahamansa Yogananda was a big proponent of healthy living. 'Taking care of the body was as important as taking care of the soul' was a big part of his message. Getting up before sunrise to do Kriya exercises was the way to health. Pranayama, prayer, asanas and a vegetarian diet completed the regimen.

Bloated and overweight, he dropped dead of a heart attack at a relatively young 58 years old.

Now if he had been drinking and smoking and eating meat, he might have had a chance.

He said he had a fondness for sweets.

Sweets (vegetarian) = diabetes & heart disease.

BTW, I target Yogananda as he brought yoga to the west, dedicated his life to it and is one of the most famous modern Swamis. If he failed, where does that leave 'lesser' mortals?

Sweets = not a healthy diet

The triple-whammy of high blood glucose levels, smoking & saturated fat would probably have killed him by 45.

So I am already dead? Is it my eternal punishment to post here and try to get the unreasonable to be reasonable?

Sad they gave that scammer their money and energy?

And how did Yogananda "fail"? He had everybody in the cult sucking up to him some more than others.

But he sure wrote fun books. Back in the day I did my best to believe all that crap.
