Short review of anime film: Tekkonkinkreet

It was pretty fucking awesome. Amazing animation style which blends traditional hand-made drawings/paintings with just the right amount of computer-graphic enhancements (much like some of the anime scenes in Animatrix). The story is incredible and simply heartwarming. There are endless metaphors that are easily accessible and yet still very powerful. The overall story is presented in a way that really makes you understand parts of japanese culture, Tokyo particularly, in a way that is beyond comprehension but just somehow works. I personally found the movie inspirational on many levels.

The director seems like he is/was off his rocker completely, but definitely worked his ass off to get his vision exactly how it needed to be for this story. The film is worth checking out if you're looking for something cool in Anime genre. :thumbup:

Have yet to see the film, but I have the soundtrack and it's damn good! Plaid collaborated on it!
