A close friend of mine used to hit the fields around Houston. Very big fields.------------------ Any fool can criticize, condemn, and complain-- and most fools do. -Benjamin Franklin

Never shroomed in dallas, but fields are probably active. Check secluded pastures starting late March early April, try some real rural areas.

Some of us are going camping the second week of March in Big Bend...hoping to bring back some gargantuan fun guys (everything's bigger in Texas). Wondering if they're around Big Bend at that time and best places to look. Thanks in advance!!GT

Thamush, You are right. I recall being in fields south of Dallas and friends picking huge bags full. They used to wait for the weather report for rain and would leave soon afterwards. These were okies, booking down to Texas. Can't ever really remember them having an unsuccessfull voyage! Can't remember exact areas, but will try to remember to ask when I speak to them next. They didn't know a hell of a lot about cultivation, but the weather always seemed to steer them right. "Country Boy Can Survive", I do believe it's been told. Peace :

Case, Sorry, just got back to checking this thread. I'll have to try to contact some old friends. Haven't spoken to for awhile, but will post back when able. If thread is lost, will create new thread. May take a bit, though. Peace

Houston's good for shrooming...lots of Swampy land around Cypress Creek and up in the Woodlands...cows too. Also, there's this amazing area right near the intersection of I-10 and Highway 6. Giant 25 mile-round sand berm constructed by the Army Corps of Engineers to enclose some floodplain. There's Cow-pastures on the inside...
