Double-ended verm. casing??

If I use perlite in the bottom of my fruiting chamber...is it necessary, or even helpful, to do the vermiculite double-ended casing tek on the cakes as well?

Here's my little TEK~
I don't know if this is what everyone else does as well but:
I birth the cakes and dunk in the fridge in little sour cream cups cleaned with alcohol......
Take cake out---dumpout water---fill bottom with a little verm...
put cake back in-----Put cover back on for 1 day.....
Take out cake------put in fruiting CHAMBAAA
