Electric Bass -- electronics are fucked up

Okay, so I have a Fender Precision bass. I got a new pickguard today and so I replaced my old one. Only problem is when I went to play it the pickups are all fucked up. There is MASSIVE feedback and now the neck pickup as well as the tone knob both do not work. It worked perfectly fine before I did this but I can't understand what the hell I could have done. I took the pickguard back off and took a look at it but found no problems at all. Anyone have any ideas? It's almost like it's not grounded or something....
Edit: I checked again and I realized the ground is perfectly fine. The weird thing is... when the neck pickup is on, it won't work unless I touch the metal parts on the bass. If you don't touch the metal part(s) on the bass, it won't work.... Any ideas? I need to fix this ASAP.

it sounds like your new pick guard isn't shielded. basically your electronics are subject to all sorts of electrical interference without any shielding, producing lots of feedback. copper tape is the most common way to shield pick guards. or you can get paint that has copper in it.
btw, standard p-basses don't have neck pickups. only a single, split-coil, pickup. unless you have one of the new fender oddities, a p-bass with a jazz bass pickup in the neck position.
but, if all you did was replace the PG, there is no reason the pickup and tone knob should not work. you most likely pulled something loose and will need to re-solder a connection somewhere.

It's definitely not the pickguard. And I do have both the P-bass neck pickups and the jazz bridge pickup. I appreciate the post, man. I talked to a friend of my dad's and he is going to fix it. I think it's just a problem with the ground wire to the bridge.
I've been meaning to replace the stock pickups with DiMarzios for a while now, maybe it's a blessing in disguise...
Also, I'll see if that guy would shield the pickups/pickguard, that'd be nice. I wanna get to the point where there is absolutely zero feedback/fuzz.
