MY ex just about outdrank me the other day and she must be a mere 120 lbs. I'm 100lbs heavier than her and I ended up assin' out like an hour before she did. She's not really a heavy drinker either, she usually just has beers.

Hah, this thread is pretty funny.  Tolerance and weight are definitely the two largest contributing factors in my opinion.  Back in college when I was a super-lush, I could polish off an easy 15 beers alongside a shot or two and perhaps a mixed drink just for kicks.  I had a mini-fridge by my bed and it wasn't uncommon for me to crack open a can of Tecate for breakfast and continue on until bed time.  That was about five years ago.

These days, there will be days I don't have a drop, though I still typically enjoy 1 - 2 drinks a day on average.  When I get together with my old friends who I have a history of partying with, alcohol naturally seems to flow and now that my average drinking is down by so much, even 6 drinks can give me a wicked headache the next morning.

I really couldn't tell you the specifics ('cause I simply can't remember 'em), but that heavy drinking would probably have started in the afternoon, not only in the evening. At the peak of my alcoholism, I would estimate the suggested 18 drinks to have been consumed over the course of about 8 - 10 hours. Not something I'm proud of, but it is what it is.
