Casing?

i've grown many a cake before and tryed my hand at casings as well. when i grow cakes, i get good results and it's not alot of work at all... i can cook up a dozen half pint jars and get 60 grams dry from the batch without casing. really, is casing worth all the trouble? how much will it increase yields? does it actually increase yields, or is it just more convenient when growing large amounts? i mean, if i wanted to grow a pound of mushrooms, that'd be an awful lot of half pint jars. it'd be much easier to spawn and case some straw and dung. but at the same time, if i cased my 12 jars instead of just fruiting them bare, can i really expect to see yields fantastically greater than if i didn't case?

When casing with dung/straw, yes you will see yields must larger than when you use cakes. You seem to have good results when using cakes, so you'd probably have good results casing with the right substrate.

Of course.

I don't really consider casing that much more trouble either...just gotta be more careful/mindful of contams. I just harvested my first flush off my 3-cake casing this morning...and the harvest from that flush alone almost equalled my first two flushes from the 7 cakes in the Hydra Pod. So I would say it's definitely worth the extra work.
