save the whales , I live in Melbourne. subaeruginosa are like the ones that are mostly hunted around Vic. Usually me and a few buddies go hunting after first rain in may, I've been told you can do so in april as well. THe season extends to about the last week in June. But in previous years I've gone up about half way in july and there has still been mushies - but older ( which I rekon sucks--- harder to I.d)

I'm trying to find more areas to search, known areas that is. But for about 4 years now I've found them in the Macedon area of victoria, thats near Woodend.

I went up last weekend, but there was nothing about, a few --- very small amount of other wild mushies growing, which is usually a bad indication, that the season is gone.

Also, in vic, like its been drought for like years now, and I think due to the shit amounts of rain that has falled, its been a poor year for mushie hunters.

Where abouts in Vic do you live?

i live in melbourne too but have not really had any success in finding positively identifyable psychoactive mushies around my area. i have however found some amanita muscaria (or lookalikes) growing in my neighbours yard much to my visual pleasure... don't know.. just something about a mushroom that seems... comforting?
