There are more than 33 species of magic mushrooms used in Oaxaca for ceremonial healing and curitive purposes.

No one person can actually claim what mushroomswas teonanacatl since it referred to all mushrooms as teonanacatl.

In Mexico today, no shaman, cuarandera, brujo, sorceror, etc calls the mushrooms teonanacatl and that name according to Guzman might just be a bastardization of another similar name found in the codices.;

Of course you all must be aware that Psilocybe cubensis is used by some shamans but was never employed by Maria Sabina , as most Mazatecs and most shamans found it to be inferior because of its association with the manure of four-legged ruminants.

And to add to that matter, there were no cattle in The Americas until the arrival of the Spanish who brolught cattle from Aftrica, where by the way, no Psilocybe cubensis has ever been found.
