Dry cakes?

How do you tell if your cakes are too dry? Other than not fruiting is there any other way to tell?

Sometimes they go a little blue.
The mycelium doesn't look as fluffy.
Generally they look shrunken and dry.

Hope thiis helps.

A dunking can do no harm!! If in doubt, dunk

it'll look dry, kinda brown from the verm. the mycelium wont look as damp, it'll look hard and crusty. if this happens, dunk it in 3 parts water, and 1 part milk, as soon as possible, and cold shocking it during the dunk will help also.

the cake will look shrunken
when you pick it up it'll be actually lighter
and it feels dry

hmm...ok, well how long should one wait until dunking? The cakes are not pinning yet but should i wait awhile or just go ahead and dunk them?
