they should grow there. I have 3 different types growing in my backyard. I live in central VA. There are pantherina's, muscaria v. muscaria, and muscaria v. formosa all in my backyard. So far I have only picked the m v. m and I have like 10 caps.

Hey Shroom*Smurf083,

Amanita muscaria does grow in Vermont as you can see by the list of species in Vermont from my forthcoming book with Gaston Guzman and Jochen Gartz (with references).

Vermont
Amanita muscaria (Locquin-Linard, 1965a; Jenkins, 1986)
A. pantherina (Jenkins, 1986)
Gymnopilus spectabilis (Hesler, 1969)
G. liquiritae (Hesler, 1969)
G. sapineus (Hesler, 1969)

And Nature Soul, The spelling is Amanita muscaria, not the way you spelled it in your post.

Also, you do not have to roast them, just let them dry naturally before attempting to eat them but they will mopst likely make you so sick that you will not wish to experience that feeling again.
