I will be spending my summer holiday together with my lovely girlfriend in Thailand. We will be leaving the 30th of July. Although the main purpose of this trip is to relax and enjoy the country i wouldn't mind looking around a little bit for some wild mushrooms.
I was wondering if there are people here (mj?) who can share some experiences with the collection of psilocybian species in Thailand. Where should i look and what can i expect to find. I'm more of a cultivator than a collector
We start out in Bangkok and travel northwards to Chiang Mai. From there we will fly to Koh Samui. From Koh Samui we then will travel to Bangkok again. We will be in Thailand for 3 1/2 weeks.
Did you receive the Psilocybe mexicana Sporeprint I sent to you from Guetamala?
Anyway, read my papers at my website on koh Samui. There is a map of locations and images for you to view.
Watch out for Cobras.
If one sees you and stands up them jut walk the other way. Oterh wise you will be fine.
Most shrooms right now would be in central and northeast and souther thiland. In and Around Changmai I doubt if you will find many.
In my article on Koh Samui, there is a map. Just ride around the island and go into various rice padies. No one will chase you out. Check the Buffalo arenas on koh Samui. After the local fights the buffalo are moved but the shrooms also pop up there. You will see rice paddies all around the island in various locations. Just be cool around police and when on Koh Samui, always wear your motorcycle helmut.
There will be Copes and Cubies there. Shame you could not wait until September to go. I'll be there adn also to Angkor Wat for Copelandia sporeprints and then to Burma and back to Thailand and Koh Samui,
If your in Southern Thailand try the natioanl parks as they're sure to have some non-coprophilous species. We found a copelandia in buffalo shit on Ko Muuk on the other side of the Peninsula as well. On Ko Samui and Ko Pha Ngan you wont have trouble finding them - infact people will often attempt to sell them to you. Im not a fan of touristie spots though.
