why the hell do scanners/printers break so often?
    #7593752 - 11/04/07 08:30 AM (16 years, 2 months ago)

They break more frequently than just about any household appliance/machine that i can think of. Its ridiculous.

I mean they break all the time. This annoys me. Mine has been breaking ever so slowly. First, whenever it printed it was great. color was perfect, speed was decent, no complaints from me.

About 2 months later, it got really slow and choppy, and whenever it printed, it would squeek really loud as if it needed oil slopped all over it.

2 more months, and the thing refused to take paper out of the tray, and now i have to feed paper into the printer whenever i want something printed.

It can print in black and white, but whenever i do that, it skips every other line on the paper, so whatever I print out will be 100% worthless.

Somebody needs to make a reliable printer. Is it really that hard?

I dunno man. I've gone through 3 coffee makers and 2 toaster ovens in the time that I've had 1 printer.

They have lots of moving parts and depending on who makes them the quality and durability can be piss poor.

You definitely get what you pay for when it comes to printers though. When I worked at an office supply store a few years back, people kept wondering why their printers didn't last long. My reply was that they shouldn't expect much from a printer that costs less than the replacement ink cartridges for it.

Same thing happened to me when I played Neil Armstrong in Moonshot. They found me in an alley in Burbank trying to re-enter the earth's atmosphere in an old refrigerator box.
