Confused on ballasts and lighting

So my question is where can a light setup be cheaply purchased from? I'm looking for a light that i could put in my room that would support possibly 3-5 tomato plants

I know they sell 400W HPS bulbs at lowes and home depot but they don't have the ballasts for them.

Another question is what are all the components I would need? I think i just need a light, ballast, reflector and timer right? or do i need a power supply also. Can power supply's be purchased locally or do they need t

I know im going to have power, but a power supply is usually a box that wires goes into^

it'd be easier to just buy a decent "grow light"  which is the whole setup most of the time, off craigslist or ebay.  Especially if you're in California, they'll be plenty of hydroponics and indoor light shit on craigslist, also a bunch of medical marijuana plants :wink:

normally I would sudjest going to your local electrical supply store and buying a raw ballest and box, cords and connectors. But since you dont seem to be very comfortable with these things just go buy a HPS from a Grow site or local shop.

You need a 400w Ballest, bulb, reflector. They can usually just plug right into 120v(standard North american plug).

Get a digital ballest if you got the cash.
