Cool temps during casing?

Hello,
I am having problems keeping the casing under 80 degrees F. I am curious what others use in terraniums to keep temps cool. Whenever the temps exceed 80 F, a yellow discharge begins to form on the substrate. I have tried ice packs in the terranium to no avail. Lowest temp in my house is around 72-75, the humidifier adds about 2-3 dgrees to an already hot teranium.

Looks like youve got your casing sitting on perlite! NG NG NG!!
TOO MUCH MOISTURE is causing the discharge.
The casing will do fine at 80-90 degrees during colonization.
GET IT OFF THE PERLITE!!!

Man what are you talking about? Having your casing under 80 degrees is BAD! Is should be around 83-86 degrees. And why is your bottom casing layer perlite?
Maybe the yellow is a contam that is dormant when its fucking cold and its thrives when the temp is where its supposed to be.....
Read up! Fd

I tried a tek of putting perlite then crumbled cake then peat moss. I thought that temps below 80 were ideal. I am glad to hear that 80 is good. Thanks.

Where did you hear that casing at around 80-86 is best??? That`s too hot man, that`s incubator temperature. Your mycelium is just gowing to keep growing. optimal is at about 74-78.

Incubator temp is correct for spawning a casing.
You're thinking of fruiting temp.

If your going to have your casing at 80F+ plus having all that moisture in the setup you have your going to have to vent it a better way then your doing now. Getting way to much moisture build up causing it to over heat an PC dont grow good at 90+ Temps.

IME I've never seen perlite used for a casing bed.
Since it cannot be colonized, it will just drown the compost with water.
Either nothing or moistened vermiculite goes under a casing - IMHO
