Massive success with casing dunking!

Hey guys, just thought that I would post some info. I made a post about 3 weeks ago about my friends casings, and was asking when the hell they would start pinning. Well anyway they started pinning a couple days later. The harvest from 3 casings was pretty small- only about 13g dried. One casing was round and about 7-8 inches in diameter and had 2 1/2 pint cakes cased with miracle grow aqua coir. The other two were rectangle shaped about 10-11 inches long and 6 inches wide. Anyway after getting pretty dissapointing yeilds my friend decided to dunk his round casing. I know that casing itself is supposed to be sufficient in providing moisture but I went ahead and did it because some other people reported success. Anyway last friday my friend filled a pot with water, boiled it, and then put a plate on top before shutting heat off. Then after it was cool, the casing was taken out of the tray and placed in the water. It sat for 8 hours and then he took it out and placed it in a spagetti strainer that had been washed with alcohol. The tray that it had been in was washed with alcohol and then put over the top while it drained(about 2 minutes of draining was sufficient). Then the casing was flipped around and put right back in its tray and into the terrarium. By sunday there were very very thick assed pins all over the bastard! Now the whole thing is covered in very thick ass pin/mushrooms. They are so thick that the smallest ones are about the same size as the largest ones from the last flush(at the same height). Anyway it was very benificial. Oh by the way he did not have any problem with the casing layer falling off like some people said. It came out in one piece(except for a little bit of vermiculite from the bottom that was left in the pan) perhaps this is because he put it in the pan right side up. Anyway it was such a huge success that he took this huge ass enamel kettle that he had and boiled up a bunch of water, and instead of the plate he just inverted the lid. In this was put one of the large rectangular casings. He just took the casing out a few hours ago, and put back into the tray in the terrarium. Anyway I will post the final yeilds in comparison to the first fluch as soon as they are full grown. Also I my friend will post pictures later he just has not had the time to do so yet. He plans on doing this with all of his casing from now on. The new ones that he has going are in the foil baking trays. He plans on cutting away huge lines out of the trays just before dunking so that the whole tray can just be dunked with the casing in it. this will make things much easier. After he takes it out he will be able to just hold it above the sink and let it drain then just put the whole thing into an uncut foil baking tray- the way two cups of the same size can be stacked on top of each other. Hope this helps somebody out there who is plagued with bad yeilds.

Awesome! I got a pretty small flush off my casings, this might be just the thing to boost my yield. Cheers!
