Idea for temp/humidity control

I was brainstorming last night, and thought of an invention that I think would help keep humidity and temperature in check without much monitoring. Recently, I purchased a digital hygrometer that also tells temperature. What it needs is the ability to turn on the power to an electrical outlet when the humidity drops below a pre-set level. This way, it would automatically turn on your bubbler/humidifier when humidity gets too low, and would turn it off when the right level is reached. The temperature function could work the same way. When the temperature drops below a certain level, you could have it turn on a heating device such as a heating pad. If temperature gets too high, you could have it turn on a fan.

Like most of my "inventions," I usually find out that its already been done. Does anybody know of such a device. If not, are there any tinkerers out there who could make this happen?
