from my personal opinion, opaque rubbermaid containers are the best: 1) they seal well 2) any holes can be cut in the plastic 3) all light entering can be from a single window cut in the top (w/ a plexiglass window glued on) 4) it's a storage bin, so your friends don't ask "hey, I didn't know you have a pet, and with a small window on top it's pretty concealable anyway, I've seen setups that use that humidifier before, so as far as that goes, you're set. and the aquarium is useable, and many people have good results from them, the key is getting a top that seals well, I personally don't like them because I like to have a small hole, just above the level of my pearlite to let out co2, with a glass aquarium, you'd have to drill through glass- that doesn't sound like fun to me

I cut a glass top for 4 or 5 dollars from home depot , it worked better than plexiglass, because if you use that you have to reinforce it with wood or it will curl you can always get a glass bit and drill through the top but you have to be real careful because it is plate glass, I have a 20 gallon and a 5 gallon, i bought one of those black trays from walmart for 97Cents. thats what i keep my stuff in, i have no problem with light mine sits in a dark closet not to mention i have black contact paper that goes around the aquarium right above the trim its about 5 inches high so they will grow towards the top and not towards the sides, i guess its just a matter of personal opinion.

Yeah I have a big opaque rubbermaid container too. I was thinking about using that, but I was worried that it isnt airtight, how would I correct this? Also, would it be wise to use an aquarium pump in conjuction with the humidifier? I figure it can only help. ~Stems and seeds may ruin my weed, but buds will never hurt me~

Oh yeah, forgot to ask. Will I need to install a drip shield using the humidifier method?

You absolutely need a drip shield, also i bought a 20 gallon aquarium broke the side glass and replaced it with Plexi, top also plexi 1/4 inch, i think thats fat enough so it doesn't curl, i drilled the top plexy and side plexi, in the top i have a plastic 90 degree elbow, on the side whole i taped a 90mm filter disk from www.fungi.com. When you drill the holes - drill them so that humid air would flow through the entire space of aquarium, meaning if you replaced the right pane with plexi the drill a whole in it's right bottom ( under the drip shield and subsequently drill a whole in the bottom left corner of top pane, If this sound confusing let me know, i'll try to explain it better. Good Luck------------------ "How do you know I'am mad?" said Alice "You must be" said the cat, "or you wouldn't have come here."

Ok you lost me there. How do I need to run the tube into the terrarium for maximun benefit? And where to put the exhaust hole in relation to that?

I have a similar set up with a aquarium with a fairly good sealing top that I tricked out with plexiglass and extra silicon caulking. I was going to use a humidifier setup as per the MMGG, but I recently read a tek that used wet perlite on the bottom of the tank (the cakes sat right on that) to keep everything moist. Does this work and what is its functionality and yeild in comparison to the humidifier tek? Ish
