pf tek terrarium with perlite?
    #3965379 -

Hi. I'm a first timer just before birthing my pf cakes. I built a pretty big pf style terrarium from plexiglass. it's about 10 gallon and I'm looking for a way to humidify it manually. do you think hand spraying the shield few times a day will be enough? i thought I'll lay some wet perlite under the wire mesh to increase humidity. i will appreciate any pros and cons about the subject. and please excuse my english as it isn't my original languich.

Welcome.  For being a 2nd language, your grammar/punctuation is better than most around here!

You can spray the walls for humidity alone.  With cakes though, you'll need some sort of a drip shield to prevent moisture from landing directly on cakes during spraying and afterwards.

Misting can be used along with perlite, but perlite is a mess to work with.  Perlite alone doesn't work too great (in my experience) but a combination of perlite/misting or just misting is sufficient.

Good luck

Check this out...I rigged an aquarium pump up to a gallon jug and have it going into my perlite pod so I can feed it water when needed without having to even open the pod.

Can throw it on a timer so it automatically waters if I ever go away, right now I'm using it for some extra air change along with my cool mist. Nice fresh clean air too because it's in a polyfilled box.

thanks!
i prepared the drip shield and i think i'll do spraying&perlite combination as my terrarium is quite huge. i'll try to delay the using of the ultrasonic humidifier for next time.
