Black widow almost got me today!
    #7401950 - 09/12/07 07:05 PM (16 years, 4 months ago)

FUCK spiders man. This sucker was HUGE (leg span was more than a silver dollar, and it's butt/abdomen was the size of about 3 peas stuck together). anyways, i look down and it's crawling up my arm!!! i flipped my shit and just start flailing my arms and almost threw it on my cousin

we snagged it, turned it over and sure enough, there was the orange hourglass...again, i reiterate, FUCK SPIDERS.

On your birthday, nonetheless!

Black Widow Bites are supposedly excruciating, and just the sight of those fuckers sends chills down my spine.

Apparently there's a deadly spider in australia that has the same hourglass shape on it.

Either that or I just smoked way too much wet and I'm completely and utterly wrong about everything I am saying, have said, and ever will possibly have a chance of someday perhaps thinking of getting around to saying eventually.

There isn't one that im aware of. I think our equivalent of the black widow is probably the funnel-web spider. One of the most deadly in the world.

My uncle spent a few years in Austrailia for college and he was warned to watch out for those spiders. I forget their name but he was told its just about the deadliest in the world and by the time the antidote works for the bite your already dead. But on his first day there the guide who was showing them what to look out for while they were temporarily living there got bit by one and died (kind of ironic isnt it lol)...but then he said after that he's been scared shit-less of spiders...and speaking of spiders the other day i saw like 20 and i went to bed and the next morning wheni woke up i had 3 bites on my body lol..damn spiders

There is no spider here that kills you before the antivenin can work. The funnel-web (which i showed above) is our most dangerous, and the mortality rate is significantly lower than it was before the availability of antivenin.

Yeah, take a look at their funnels,

They are fuckin scary things. If you walk close enough to a funnel, they dart out in a split second thinking a fly is caught or something. And they are huge, can grow to the size of your hand.

You're pretty lucky you weren't bit. That would not have been very pretty. I caught a pretty good sized house spider crawling up my arm the other day as well. It wasn't a poisonous one though, well not that I know of anyway. The little bastard got torched with the lighter I was holding in my hand at the time.

On another note: :happybday:

I don't mind spiders if they are not poisonous, I still get scared when I see a small house spider hoping it is not poisonous..but I think they look pretty cool.
