You can case it if you like. Naturally, using it as spawn will give you more substrate and bigger yeilds. More time, more effort, but worth it!

Hey Dude...I told you already that casing your rye is a nice plan. You can make a dozen more rye shakables from each of your colonized jars....so save one and when you are through making your other casings, pressure cook some more rye in those jars...put a tablespoon or two of colonized rye into each of the new jars and shake...a week to 10 days later you have a dozen more jars of rye. I told you to use some of it to spawn bulk sub and to case some of it by itself...I would not lead you astray! You are not likey going to find to many people in this forum that can give you 'honest' experience with cased rye....Search Annos posts and find some of his posts regarding 'this on rye or that one rye'. You can see some examples if you like. If you want to PM me for advice, don't then go post asking if it was good advice! Unless you want to go into full scale mushroom production you have far more rye than you need for making some nice casings of bulk substrate. Case the rest of that rye like I said...Then,you yourself will have first hand knowledge of how well it works and you wont have to depend on dill holes who are only re-gurgitating shit that they read which is the most likey thing you are going to find posting this question in Mush Cult............
Yes, as said in the previous post by shadow, using it for spawn will increase your yields IF YOU DO EVERY THING RIGHT. Each step you add is another chance to make a mistake. You said you have a lot of jars...I don't know what is a lot but it does not take but a couple to spawn bulk substrate....
Peace, TR

Vatoloco posted while I was typing. Did you see that he mentioned 'risk' as well? Keep this in mind. Take things one at a time...learn each step and master it.
If you want to see some excellent examples of the potential caed grain has...go to the Hawks eye and look at the different strains...There will be pictures of each strain grown on cased birdseed...similar to casing rye or any other grain...Then, tell me if it looks promising
