Is this cake ok? (see pic)
    #736079 - 07/10/02 08:18 AM (22 years, 4 months ago)

I'm a newbie...but I researched well. This is my first cake ever. A biologist friend told me to birth it...not sure if it was too early. It's B+ in a case with %99 rh. Is this mycellia or contamination? The dark spots are actually blue (psyll damage?) Thank you.

It's crumbled on whole brown rice...it came out of a quart jar w/ shoulders. The substrate is a mix of stones (perlite, pumis & slate)...should I toss it?

Hello... i am an amateur too, but my questions may help u find an answer:

Does it smell any funny? It doesnt supposed to smell bad like alcohol, 'feet' etc

Had the mycelium colonized the whole substrate-cake? did u waited after that?

hope its ok

It smells fine..earthy, mushroomy... this is why I have not been alarmed . Actually I was keeping it in a jar until I noticed water collecting on the bottom like yours...I got scared and birthed it on rocks to ensure runoff...no alcohol smell like yours though...good luck, someone here will inform you well.

You cased with brown rice? and your substrate is stone?......are you sure?

I think it's supposed to be the other way around kinda......

If it smells all shroomy it should be okay but where did you get this idea?

shit, sorry dude...the brown rice was inoculated in a jar, then I used stone for a substrate in a tuperware case...I think I can simply wait it out unless someone says otherwise...

Funny, I laughed too when I learned many viewed Plato's political theory of "Republic" as totalitarianism...

Dude, that mycelium looks real healthy, I can see it's spreading through the bottom layer of stones etc.
From the picture it looks really great, specially since it smells mushroomy.
I would suggest lowering the humidity a bit and sprinkling a thin layer of some H2O2 treated verm on top so it can fruit.
