He already explained why he couldnt order another print.
And red moulds would not genetically alter the mushroom spores so that they grew into more red mould.

Hey JJ if you're in Aus, why don't you order from Dutchie at MMA? (Mystical Mycology Australia - hosted thru shaman-australis)
They're in Adelaide, and you don't have to worry about overseas orders/Oz Customs (not sure about legality in W.A. though...)
They have prints, different substrates, empty syringes and also isolate cultures, which are apparently legal here.... :
Dammit...I tried to post the url, but it looks like they lost some pages in a recent update ....
(here it is anyway in case they fix it up eventually - www.shaman-australis.com/shroom/Newsite/mainframe.htm)

that is definatly not mycelium! I can do nothing but laugh at this guy and the way he's in denile and arguing with us, every single person on here has told him they're contaminated and it's not mycelium...lol
mold happens to the best of us dude, it's just a part of growing mushrooms somtimes. toss em and start over, this time be absolutly 100% anal with all of your sterility procedures and you should be safe for the most part...I just did 48 jars and only lost 2 to contams. your terrerium also looks to damn wet, reduce the water and keep the sides "misted" at all times, not huge water drops everywhere, that will also help to keep the contams down... and lysol the area 3-4 times a day. good luck in the future, try the spore vendors inside of Aussie.

There is no question about that this IS mycelium.
The question is, WHICH SPECIES? mycelium it is......

It's early and I'm a little buzzed, so maybe I overlooked the reason you couldn't order another print. I did see Anno offer you one. Here's your second offer. I have a spare eq print if you want to take another shot. pm me.

Ahhh, he doesn't care if it's contaminated, so stop telling him. He just want's to retrieve the spore print, and as he stated, he doesn't want to order a spore print because of upped security in Austrailia. Read the thread!

You might be able to fruit a cake that had the contaminate removed, ie. slicing off green mold. But even that is slim. You are dealing with a still present contam., your chances for fruiting are growing slimmer by the day. If you want, cold shock it overnight, and if it doesn't pin in 3 days THROW IT OUT!!!!

i bet if you cut that cake in half you would be instantly gased by a puff of red smoke!!!
dude, if the cake is contaminated how do you think you will get a sterile spore print even if you do get the cake to fruit?
come on man!
go to the spore exchange forum and possibly someone within your country would be willing to exchange prints with you. i would take anno and babyshroom up on their offer of a free print. start clean!! if not you will be fighting contams from your contaminated print in the next batch too. its not that hard to conceal a print especially in a letter that looks like two friends corresponding.

my opinion for what its worth is that looks exactly like my friends eq mycellium. try to give thsoe more air exchange in just that little container; theres prolly not much in there and should be fanned twice a day as O2 increase initiates pinning. yes cold shock those asap and if you have an empty syringe try injecting 5cc sterile water in the center of the cake before you cold shock. dont dunk them tho at this point, all it will do is mat down that fluffy mycellium more than hydrate it. its pretty small, i would wrap your whole container in saran wrap and refridgerate it for 12 hours.

If those pretty puffy white patches are starting to grow a light neon green right now, I gurantee that shit. Cakes are in no way supposed to look like that, any possibility of fruiting passed long ago.

both of my cakes had growth like that and still pinned and fruited with no shocking. 1 of teh cakes that 'overgrow' only occured on half of teh cake but pins did sneak up thru the fluffy shit eventually. possibly the mycellium is trying to create its own 'casing' environment to keep water delivery constant and also airy??? its just a guess but in any event my fluffy cake grew 4 maztec shrooms 1st flush, largest being 15g wet. the other cake will be harvested of 2 mature shrooms but i realize the cakes need more inner moisture content and i expect larger 2nd and 3rd flushes after administering the inner reservoir tek.

>> Customs here in Australia have upped their interception of all imports so I'm trying to reduce the chance of me having to order another print.
Order a print off of someone you trust. Pay them an extra 5 bucks to get them to put the print in a birthday card, and mail it to you from a grandmotherly writing on the envelope... Post-it note wrapped with tape, print on the tape... Folded in half, taped shut... Very difficult to detect in a b-day card.
Be sure not to have the return sender as "The anthrax corporation of new york"

Heh thanks everyone for all the witty responses :) I haven't had net access for the past 2 days due to a nice big storm that knocked out power and cable. I tried cold-shocking the cakes and now the fuzz is matted and I doubt I'm going to get any fruits out of them. So I guess I'll try ordering from MMA here in Oz or take Anno or babyshroom up on their offer.. I think I'm probably being overly paranoid about customs :/ Anyhow.. thanks everyone!!

Dammit...I was getting into this story. What happened? Did he die? Did it fruit? It's almost like a weird bedtime story. I'll have to remember to tell this one to my kids when I have some.
