can anyone give me any tips on smart looking clothes that don't look gay?
    #7335714 -

I wear kind of skater/rock type clothes, skate shoes jeans usually black and some sort of t-shirt with a hoody.

I've taken a little more interest in my appearance, I'll be coming up on 20 in a few months and i still dress like a 14-16 year old.
I want to look a little bit smarter but i don't want to look like a totally fag.

Does anyone know of any clothes that look smart but still casual and don't look totally retarded?

please note that I'm not trying to fit in with the latest fashion or anything like that i just want to look a bit more smarter.

thanks.

button up shirts, maybe some with patterns, but a necklace and a nice black tank top underneath with top buttons umndone always goes down well, woollen jumpers, jeans, leather shoes or just nice black dunlop volleys with white laces (they always go down well, i've worn them since i was 5), jeans that aren't too baggy and aren't too tight, although sometimes the odd pair of baggy jeans/cargo pants doesn't go astray.

black socks when wearing black pants and black shoes. White socks for jeans. No hats, unless it's a bowlers hat with a suit. hat's are out of fashion.

Not those shitty Oakley style sports sunglasses, you want nice shades that look badass.

Either that, or just stick to suits, Stop shopping in skate shops and try like menswear stores or something.

or just get a gay friend haha

I would rather be drawn and quartered than wear a polo shirt.

I still wear that kinda thing on a regular basis, and im 21. maybe try blue jeans... not like the ones where you can fit 2 other people in with you, but not emo style either. skate shoes can still look nice with blue jeans, and as long as your tshirt doesn have holes in it, or looks decent, youll be lookin pretty classy.

Then again, I still know skater/rock guys that still wear the same kinda thing they did when they were 18, and theyre getting closer to 30. They pull it off pretty well. I think they just make sure they dont look grungy or anything.

If youre lookin for dress/work clothes, then youre talking to the wrong person.. I dont know much about that haha

i'll probably end up just buying more jeans and t-shirts with decent shoes, don't know what else to wear instead of hoodies.

A collared shirt will do wonders for your appearance.

Despite what a lot of people have said, a classic polo will always be in style. A nicely fitting button down shirt will also work and be appropriate for most occasions.

What's so bad about polos? They're classy, right in every situation, easy to pull off, and women love them.

meh there are just some really horrible ones.

Button down shirts for the win, even a suit without a tie is great for casual attire. With a tie for a night out. Seriously. Suits rule and chicks love it.

I went to a uni ball last night pimped out in my black pinstripe with a black pinstripe shirt and a light purple striped tie man i was getting the killer looks i loved it

blegh on polos. if you want a collared shirt, go to a thrift store and pick up a couple of long sleeve button-ups. Solid colors, plaid, and/or thin stripes seems to be what's acceptable these days. and i always like to roll the sleeves up to my elbows because it's fucking hot out and i feel it just looks better. i also like the shirts to be a little tight on the chest area (not like super tight stressing out the buttons, just enough to show i'm fit).

but that's really just my personal preference.

also, like the first poster said, can't go wrong with tshirts and jeans. it's classic.

Solid colored t-shirts look nice without being too formal with a decent pair of jeans. Leather loafers look pretty good with jeans, too.
