I'm looking to buy a laptop...Not sure what one yet (...I never had one) So I'm just searching around. What laptops would you recommend?

I have a macbook and I love it. If you have the coin though, I'd go for the macbook pro.

do not buy a dell.
mine (and i've heard the same from others) crapped out after roughly a year. it was actually about 5 days after my one-year warranty was up. and way before that happened, the headphone jack got fucked and was going to cost me $250 to fix. bitches

I reccently got a HP notebook.. its alright.. i think i dislike vista more than the actual laptop.

I have a MacBook. It's lack of games hurt but I can't imagine going back to Windows.

Have an acer aspire3100 right now. Just cause it was the cheapest decent laptop out when i needed to get one for work about a year ago. It was under 600$, and i've yet to have any problems with it.

Of course i wiped the drive on day one, to get rid of xp home and the load of bullshit apps that all laptops seem to come with in some variation. I'd still do that today to get rid of vista.

Someone suggested Asus, which is what id probably get if i had more money to spare.

I hate how small their HDD's are.  I mean you could just an exertnal enclosure case for a backup drive, but yeah they rape you with latop repairs.


Make sure to blast if out with air and clean the fans at least once a month, get the most recent Malwate software and scan/update at least 1-2x a week and pretty much any laptop will surve its purpase.

De-frags and deleting all temp memory helps as well.  IF you're running Vista just strap a 2GB USB stick and configure it for Ready Boost.  My PC loves me for it. :smile:
