Windows has the advantage of nearly universal compatibility with any type of software you might need to use when you're going to school. Depending what you are using it could be advantageous to just stick with Windows. If your going to be coding or something maybe consider Linux/Unix. Also consider getting a book on Linux or whatever Unix type OS you go with. If you want to be a cool kid, shell out some major cash and get an Apple thing.

If you like to play video games and want to use steam, stick with Windows.

BTW, all of the laptops you buy from stores come with bloatware. Same with phones.

Got the Asus U46SM, formatted it and have a new copy of windows running on it.  Seems legit, no dead USB ports yet either.  I am only disappointed with the quality of the screen.  It's not bad but, it's not as good as it COULD be.  Only rant I have bout it is that.

man, none of the displays these days are that great, even the higher end models only have a marginally better screen, it's a real drag.
