i dunno some compaq i got in a 'back to school' sale.

I'm sure it'll last like 9 months, but hey it's better than nothing

also, my sig is from a vintage poster i found... it says 'acid de delirio' .. it's some foreign film from the 60s

I personally think windows vista is honestly the most sorry attempt at a major OS release since windows ME. It's the same bullshit, just with a new look, and it literally asks for authentication on everything. It is a truely a piece of shit in my eye. It's too bad people don't even have the option at the store to have vista or XP. But hey, it's cool you got a laptop. Now let the browsing while you take a shit begin. :grin:

I wouldn't even recommend that, but if that's what you like and are used to go for it. But honestly, why any microsoft product is the "industry standard" for business blows my mind. It's not user friendly. It's most certaintly not reliable. It's definately NEVER been secure. And they flat out rip people off with their licensing cost. Their a shitty company all together. When was I still a windows user, I literally had to repartion/reformat every 6 months simply because it would just get soooooo slow or overloaded with spyware/popups that no program it would remove. Not to mention the ever threat of getting a virus and if your an average user you have to by a yearly subscrition to these resource hog programs. Windows altogether is primitive. I think Windows is gradually loosing it's appeal to the majority though.

The good thing about windows is there is always a way to get around authentication. i haven't paid for a windows operating system since windows 98, been downloading and cracking ever since then. about a month ago when i was wanting to install a windows os on my mac for the occasional video game, it took me all of 20 minutes to find the most recent cracked version of windows xp. no activation at all and all the updates i could want, for free. the tighter microsoft's grip gets the more people out there screwing them over.

anyhow, congrats on the laptop bro. use the shit out of it before it goes obsolete, heh.

your talking about activation. I said authentication. I meant that windows vista literally second guessed every decision you make. If you make any administrative changes, despite being logged in as the administrator, you have to continually have to see the "cancel or allow" windwow. It's absolutely pathetic at the effort the went to "secure" your pc. But in reality, they just give all the users headaches.

edit: I just thought I would mention how bad of job windows tried to incorporate widgets. They might be called something different but once again, microsoft tries to steal good ideas from people but yet fail so miserably.
