Charred Shrooms?

I went back to pick some magic shrooms growing near my work today and I found that some of them were dried and black. I'm assuming that this is from the hot Texas sun pretty much charring them. So my question to you guys is, Do these burnt shrooms still have potency?

Chances are they are not active in the first place.
Chances are also that you have some coprinus species there.
Even if they were actives, they'd be bug ridden (even if you don't see them) and/or rotting....
Not worth messing with either way, find some freshies :mushroom2:

I am sure that these are the right kind because I have tripped off of these before. Not all of them are charred; there are some that are still soft and there's a couple fresh ones.

only eat fresh ones... those black ones are rotten and are likely to give you food poisoning

meh ive eaten the black ones before.... usually if i have more than a couple i'll just make tea out of them. And yeah the potency does suffer depending on when you find them...

luck of the draw, man. I remember puking from my first find that had an older cube starting to go bad in it... I wouldn't recommend tripping and puking to anyone.

I can officially say that these charred black shrooms, atleast in this instance, were safe to eat. No one threw up and they were some of the best shrooms I've ever eaten. Thanks for you're advice though.

Edit: Oddly enough, while I was eating them I scratched on the cap of a charred shroom and found that the black part peeled off and underneath the cap was the normal color. These were cubensis by the way.

You're probably aware of this, but that's not the safest way to establish if you have a safe species. Not to say it's a particularly irresponsible and downright stupid thing to do, eat unidentified mushrooms. I hope you properly ID the shrooms you eat.

Oh, of course I ID'd them. This was the second time I have picked the same shrooms from the same spot. The first time I picked them I took care of the IDing. It's just that this time some of them were charred, but besides that they were exactly the same.

They were growing on some mulch in a flower bed near my work. I had looked around my area for magic mushrooms for almost two years with no luck, and then one day while I was on break at my work I walk by this flower bed, and low and behold, there are some sexy shrooms. It was a good day.
