Uh oh, i think you're screwed. Are there any signs of mycelium yet? If not, and they smell that bad, you might as well dump them.

Don't worry about being too much of a fuck up. A lot of people don't get it the first time. I only had a couple, out of 10 work for me the first time, so it's ok. Better luck next time, though.

I've read over the MMGG 100 times!! I know it by heart and I personally think it's a sucky guide. I did EVERYTHING it said, EVERYTHING!!

I was wondering what kind of sterilizatrion procedure you used on your jars.

What kind of spores did you use for your growing project.

I would highly recogmend using a PF amazonian strain if you are a first time grower. This srain seems to be very forgiving.
I hope you can get some results. You seem to be a cool person I would hate to see your shroom growing project go to shit.

calm down.the same thing just recently happened to me too. i had 9 jars and all were fucking rotten in 3 days. i have grown succesfully in the past but this time i just got greedy and didnt think about the sterility and did it half ass. i then took my spore syringe and injected 5 ccs into one cake. that was a week ago and now i already have mild fruits. i suggest you do the same but be as sterile as you can possibly be. then let one ofthe fruits mature and make your own syringe/print. patience is a virtue. also you are ripened senior memeber but yet you are a newbie???

It's ok, calm down :smile: It happens. How long did you steralize your jars for? Did you use a pot? I forget what the MMGG said for how long to steralize, but I've found that to be not long enough. Maybe the syringe was bad. That happens every once in a while, too. There's a lot of factors in this, and a lot of them don't depend on the grower. Try again, you'll probably get different results.

AHHH! I am starting to cry now! (Seriously!). I hate when you work on something for a LONG time and you work SOO hard and IT GOES TO SHIT!

Before putting in any substrate, I washed the jars out with water and soap (washed ALL the soap out). Then I dryed it and put in the substrate stuff. Then I put the foil over it, and boiled it in a pot for an hour then let it cool down overnight. The next morning (about 5am...i did it before going to school), I used that alcohol stuff to sterilze the syringe and I put in 1cc per jar (about 1/4 cc in each hole). Then I put it in my draw...with a heating pad underneath..and let it sit. Then like just 2 days ago I found out they needed to be taped (the holes) so I taped them. And like last night I noticed how BAD they smelled and still smell. I have NO CLUE what spores I'm using (but they are from that Ryche Hawk dude) cause I got them from a friend who didn't need them and was kind enough to send a syringe full of them to me.

I am so upset...I got some kinda heart problem (for 2 straight days it's been going on) and I WANNA GROW MUSHIES SOOO BADLY!!!

Delyrium,
The first thing you need to do is inspect the jars. I know you said you did, but I mean really look at them closely. If nothing is seen and you serioulsy think they could be contaminated (does it smell like rotten apples, or alcohol?) then go ahead and open a jar and look at it. After looking at it WAFT (sp?), as in use your hands to move the smell of the jar towards your nose. If it doesn't smell extremely oderous than your probably not contaminated. Also 3 days is kind of quick (in my experience) to have contamination. You might though. If I ever suspect that a jar is contaminated I open it and look at it and smell it. If it wasn't I have never had one become contaminated from doing this. If it was though it was well worth knowing in order to remove it (so other jars aren't contaminated). Post back with the smell (of the jar not your room) or what you see!

i found the easiest growing method in the grow/find section. i cant get verm, pressure cooker, jars, and a aqaurium so all i do is cook some b. rice, throw it in a drinking glass, squirt some spores in and wait. then i put them in my cheap ass styrofoam cooler(99 cents) and spray them every once in a while. i also cut the cooler's lid out to give them light, and i have a sprayshield. FUCKING EASIEST WAY IN THE WORLD, if you are clean clean about. easiest way to be clean is to turn off ac and spray the room with lysol and wait. i also put the cups i am going to use in a sink full of water and a tablespoon of clorox.


delyrium, i highly reccomend my way. i have absolutely no worries(i stress that you be steril! my way is risky but it works good as hell) and my friends and i trip every other week. i dont mean to be a cheapass but i just CANNOT get all that other crap.try it and tell me what happens. sorry so long.

Ok, sniffed it. it's not a VERY strong cruddy odor...but more of a stale/water odor. It's weird. I saw NOTHING, I opened it up (saw some water dew on the lid...wiped it off) and it was strong...it just didn't smell good (but what should I know...is it supossed to smell like candy/flowers or like blah). But I noticed EVERYONE of them (all 8) smell the same. I am thinking it's possibly the water (there is dew on the side of the jar from the inside). I see NO icky mold or anything and it's not a horrible scent, just not something I expected to smell. AHH!

mine usually smell like rice, but only if i get real close. it shouldnt smell bad at all. just kind of earthy. if it is contaminated, you will know, it smells fucking awful, sometimes too bad to even put your nose up to it.

I'll be honest. From the sounds of it you don't have contamination. Felix put it best when he said, "it smells fucking awful, sometimes too bad to even put your nose up to it". That is the truth. If it were contaminated you would know it. There will be some odor when you smell the jars but nothing that repulses you. As I mentioned before if it was contaminated it would most likely will smell like rotten apples or alcohol. I wouldn't throw them out. Give it a couple more days I bet you get some mycelium growth.
