Do all contaminations smell bad?

If my malt extract liquid mycelium has no smell is it safe,or do some contaminations not have any smell?There are no floating contaminations on the top,and the jar is atleast 4 weeks old.Would'nt it start to stink by now?

Some contaminants do not smell.

In liquid culture, if you don't see any floating colonies, and it doesn't smell then you are probably golden. Use it.

The most common contam with liquid is bacteria, and bacteria stinks, really really bad after 4 weeks. You know how bad a glass of milk would smell if you left it in your car in the heat for a week? Imagine that times 4.
