hey, are those things hard to grow? I tried nicking them, soaking them in water for 2 days, then planting them. But some one was saying you don't really have to soak them in water, just nick them and plant them before it rains. Did I screw up?

No, as long as you didn't soak them for too long, that's the method I use and I generally get about a 50-75 percent germination.
