Persistent Sustainment of Psychedelic Consciousness
    #7233388 -

Do you think it possible for a society of people to live almost entirely connected to either the feelings and vibrations of unconditional love associated with the psychedelic state, or the state of psychedelic immersion itself, namely the ability to hone in on any one sensory experience and dissolve into synasthetic unity with it. The jhana process of a monk, looking at a tree and being the tree.

Do you think that this consciousness is the norm [perhaps delving back more into prehistory and less to do with the advent of civilized culture the way we understand it, more like tribal culture] and that our society has deliberately lowered our vibrations to one of a more animalistic and chaotic state?

We know that in many and most (?) cultures that were not tainted by European advancement, the medicine man and at least one entheogen has played a vital role in societies. Given his importance it is likely that transpersonal values were what dominated the movement of this culture moreso than our current values of consumption and lack/wealth dominate?

Our planet has alot of wounded people, varying degrees of realization of unity, most are schizophrenic. The media is a huge factor in this. Also, fear is created from the top down, it does not exist at base so it has to be inserted into the base from another dimension. This is where power structures come in. Those who dominate and those will willingly allow themselves to be slaves are part of the same loop. Salvation rests in opening the loop..

Sorry I did Acid last night hahahaha hahahahaha

Any madness we perceive outside, is merely a reflection of our own state of deep insanity inside. Just becuase we prefer one variety of madness over another does not mean we are any more 'well' than the nutters in the asylum IMO.

Actually, you remind me of a common theme found among cults (even humongous cults like Christianity) and science fiction (Stranger in a Strange Land comes fo mind immediately). Such is an ideal which probably did not dominate any tribal society on THIS planet.

(Parenthesis: Last night we watched a DVD on 'Planet Earth,' which showed a marauding tribe of chimpanzees attack another tribe that was chowing down on dates. They crept up and surprised them [guerilla warfare ]. What was shocking to me was that they caught a baby chimp from the 'other' tribe, tore him limb from limb and ate him!!!)

Mythic Golden Ages, sci-fi, religious ideals all seem to be archetypes which lie latent in the human psyche, but which cannot seem to manifest on a "biosocial band" (as Ken Wilber calls this level of The Spectrum of Consciousness). Communes and other experimental utopian societies may be millennia before their times. Like Jules Verne imagining a nuclear submarine but with none of the instrumentality for translating the vision into intellection and intellection into physical construction, such a social reality is not a capability of humanity, such as we are.

We are primarily an embodied-ego, and the satisfactions of this level are what the multitudes of humanity are deficient in (Maslow's "Deficiency-Needs"). Higher states of Being (Maslow's "Self-Actualization") are only possible after basic needs for safety, security, belonging, and love have been satisfied. Most of the world's population doesn't have adequate food, water, shelter, etc. not to mention having their need for love met! Self-actualizers will always be relegated to the very top of the pyramidal 'Hierarchy of Needs,' unless the world becomes like it is in the later Star Trek spin-offs, where money is obsolete and the masses are not starving and dying from treatable diseases. But, that again is just science fiction unfortunately.

I'll take a guess and say that the consciousness that separates us from animals came about at the same time the trouble started. Adam and Eve ate of the tree of knowledge of good and evil, and became ashamed. Wouldn't that tree be the consciousness we find so desirable?

If we could meet these needs for the world, we would basically have a utopia. The technology has been here for decades...its use just needs redirection and it would be so easy to make this happen. If utopian societies are millenia away, the delay is not due to technology or know-how (not that you implied that it was), and this leaves me wondering what is holding us up? What can build up over time that might result in utopia millenia away, as opposed to in this lifetime?

How do you know all these have happened?
From what I see, this is only a parable, one who is designed to induce the guilt-trip.

Exactly.
The difference is that some are able to see beyond them, not get lost in them.
So the problem is not one having that "madness", but remaining fixated on it.

shifting mental states is important.
even the meditator is supposed to rise and clean his bowl.
take excercise, do chores.
his teacher will take him up if he tries to stay in the same absorption (layered) state.
there is too much attachment in attempting to persist just one way,
mind has to be flexible and resilliant, has to operate with integrity deeply in stacks and flat and clear as well...

when it comes to layered states, our culture prefers a dumber flock and relegates stigmata and epipahies to a saintly priest class.
(what about the whole thing with shamans - probably the same)

our culture still has huge flaws.
alcohol is the chosen drug for mental state alteration.
it is addictive, sloppy and ruins families.

dumb, barely better than eating babies of another tribe of primates.

well, if so then their eating could not have been bad

it is the Christ consciousness.

We are different than animals because we take, take, take much more than we need or deserve, even from our own species. This is what seperates us from the animals and what we call evil. Living a simple life, taking very little and giving yourself away freely is a good way to not be evil IMO.

I don't think comparing human existence with how animals live is the right way to go about it. If animals take the path that humans have walked and achieved consciousness, they would have turned out the same, both good and bad.
