Largest recommended indoor grow op
    #7219909 -

What is the largest type of substrate that is recommended to be used indoors. I live in a house that is split into separate apartments for student housing so extremly pungeount odors are out of the question, I have heard that straw is bad, dont know much about poo. What does shroomery recommend for bulk growing indoors?

I understand, Im just trying to skip as many test runs as possible. I already did 1 pint/pf cake batch, 1 batch of rye, and Im doing rye again but this time I want to spawn it to the largest yeilding substrate possible

I've always only used coir+coffee grounds and while there's typically only 2-3 good flushes from coir, it's significantly more inconspicuous.  And makes great garden soil amendments afterwards.

Keep in mind that inoculating or whatever in front of a flow hood won't help your bad substrate, your bad inoculant, your bad sterile procedure, etc. etc. etc. It's not a +3 flowhood of magic, it's just a tool.

If you get your poo dried or composted there isn't really a pungent odor, just an earthy smell.

This is not true.

Read up on how to pasteurize poo. If the poo ends up dense after being submerged in water, squeeze the excess out.  Problems have actually occured from the poo being too wet.

Once you get the hang of it though, you'll absolutely amaze yourself.

Good luck and be safe

What makes a substrate "big"?

I recommend elephant poo.

Well, I've been near elephants at the zoo. Didn't exactly have to stick my nose in and sniff, it was pretty big.

Hey... I wonder if they would let me have 50 pounds of elephant poo?

as long as it is dried well it doesn't smell hardly at all, i just pasturised two big pans full of horse poo and my kitchen smelled nothing but faintly earthy, and a few minutes after i took the poo to another room the smell was gone, haven't smelled it since, the futer casings do not even smell at all unless i take a deep wiff, then it just smells like soil.
