The Mind-Blowing concept of infinity.
    #7202785 -

"How did the universe begin? Did it have a beginning at all? These questions may have been the subject of speculation and debate for millennia, but they have not been widely discussed for the past forty years. Ever since the discovery of the cosmic background radiation in 1965, the overwhelmingly predominant view has been that our universe began about 14 billion years ago in a cosmic fireball known as the "big bang" and that it has been expanding, cooling, and evolving ever since. Recently, though, a small but growing number of theorists have begun to challenge this conventional belief and to pursue a radical new history of the universe. According to this new idea, there was a big bang, but this was not the beginning of space and time. In fact, in the version proposed by Neil Turok and myself, the big bang has occurred myriad times in our universe's past, repeating at regular intervals during which galaxies, stars, planets, and life form anew. The result is a "cyclic universe" in which cycles extend far into the past and into the future—and perhaps forever."

What are you thoughts on this?

So we finish the eighteenth and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, "Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know." And he says, "Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consciousness." So I got that goin' for me, which is nice.

I think we will be forever asking these questions and coming up with ever changing answers.

It's interesting to think about though but it doesn't change much as far as our personal life goes.

It could make some one a case for thinking that reincarnation might be valid.

These are my thoughts.

I just keep tripping myself out when I think of the universe as existing 'forever'.

I wonder if there are grandfather planets floating along aimlessly in the far reaches of space, where no beam of light has been in billions of years. They are too far away to become a part of new universes, that they themselves have been around 'forever'.

I guess I like to think of infinity as the 'behind the scenes' behind the scene

it doesn't really bother me that way

Well Matter cannot be created or destroyed. I assume this means that the universe never began or will finish. The only value that never began or finished, is infinity because inifinity just 'is'. It never was not, it order for it to be born and never will not be, in order for it to finish.

The mind is a creative tool. It searches to protect you, through message sensations(feelings). It is no different than a computer, you need to make sure its anti-virus program is in check and that it doesnt have a script that limits your experience, because of to much precaution.

And remember the computer does not appear to respond to words of anger and frustration - just give it input, in the form of new meanings that you know to be true and its messages to you and the limits it lays out for you, will change.

Guilt is an outcome of believing you are the cause of the problems.

Yet, we are not a cause to something, we see is negative or bad - Unless you believe your intentions are directed towards a bad outcome....

An 'Oscillating Universe' has been taught in Hindu metaphysics for millennia. Vishnu dreams the universe, and wakes up, at which point the universe is withdrawn into the Divine Dreamer's Unmanifest state (mythologically stated).

Eternity however, is an ontological state of a dimensionless Present. Eternity does not mean an unending linear progression in time. Time is a dimension of space (since spatial extension from a dimensionless 'point' demands 'duration' of that extension, and hence time). The space-time continuum is a matter of form and a form of matter. If the Vedantist is correct then Spirit and matter are non-dual. If the Buddhists are correct, the same holds true for Nirvana and Samsara. The People of the Book (Jews, Christians and Muslims) find radical Otherness between Spirit and matter, while mystics among all of those religions might see the creative aspect of God to be peripheral to the utterly Transcendental Godhead, much like Plato and Gnostics saw a Demiurge as the Creator, but not as Ultimate Reality.

One must be careful not to confound the immensities of space-time with infinity and eternity as these words denote a Reality that is prior to form (historically and ontologically).

infinity has to include the finite, so infinity has to include a begining and end otherwise it would be infinity -(minus) begining and end.

unless we are talking of different infinities

Finitude is apparent, relative, with beginning and end. It is like selecting one or more finite points on a theoretical line which theoretically (not in real space which is 'bounded' and presumably curved at its receding boundary) stretches infinitely is one dimension. Yet each distinct point is dimensionless, zero dimension, and as such is absolute, undefined and infinite. Akin to Zeno's paradox in which it is impossible to traverse a distance between two points, A and B, because first one would have to travel 1/2 of the way and before that 1/4 and before that 1/8, ad infinitum. Yet, distances are traversed
(unless...unless, like in a dream, distances seem to be traversed, and the universe is God's dream, we the deluded finite phantasms without Real existence except relative to one another)! Neo as a human "coppertop" wasn't going anywhere in his machine womb, and awaking to the 'real' world suggests that it too is a world from which one can awaken. That is the premise of Enlightenment.

Maybe different illustrations of infinity .

I like Rufus's explanation of how the universe is cyclic. Rufus's steady state theory.

The finite can only exist within the infinite. The end of something is only a change from the begining. You assume that they exist seperatly but really they are the same, a differing change that exists within what is, or infinity.
Did i understand what you said correctly?
