If the petri dishes are not sealed(which they shouldn?t be), there will be enough air exchange in them without filter.

Peatries seem soo brittle i don't think you could do it. also it probobaly won't be woth the effort to save a couple days. I never soak my straw, i did once and inless than 24hrs, the stuff smelled so bad I threw it out and started over.

I wrap them with polyethylene wrap.
I store them in my bathroom which is home to a horde of spores and other unwelcome guests.

actually i wrap my plates in nano-osmosis film and store them in a..well actually one of my robot drones stores them...in one of the many incubation matrices on the 30th floor of my underground abandoned nuclear missile silo located in the Ozarks. but i've had contamination problems due to a recent hillbilly invasion and subsequent shoot out.
NOW TELL ME!!! CAN I USE THE VACUUM CLEANER FILTERS!?!!?

I concur. Especially for disposable (recycleable) cheap, and currently effective, parts.

well, i don't want to turn this post into an extended discourse on christianity and cops ..but....i can't resist replying...
1) yr right. jesus probably wouldn't condone killing officers of the law or Romans, but in light of the fact that Christianity itself has interpreted (warped) Jesus' teachings i really don't feel so bad presenting my own interpretation (perversion).
2) The so called "service men and women" are mindless automatons who uphold the law (status quo), a law that prevents me from experimenting with my own mind. they are the supporting structure for a society that outlaws cognitive experimentation, a society that is regimimented by routine and entertainment. all the cops i know are either stupid or evil...this is really why i have such negative sentiments toward them. i hate them in the same way one hates a tornado after it has ripped through one's house and dismembered one's significant other. i think people would be better off with a weaker police force. if the police were there to prevent murders, rapes, etc. while otherwise leaving people alone i might not have such a problem with them. but as it stands, they are an oppressive force; they mediate relations between people instead of allowing people to mediate thier own interrelationships, they harass and extort individuals, and they have the power to complicate and even ruin your life if you catch them during thier period.
to be honest, i wouldn't kill anyone, even a cop, unless, of course, they were threatening my life.
