96 gms fresh , found a pleasant surprise which turned into an adventure while taking the dog out to piss when i woke up , ended up walking the dog around a 1 x 1 mil area lol 9.6 gms dry tho who could complain, well the dog might ..

See the problem with finding a lot of weilii is that main area is bermuda and fescue(at least where I look) and I can't look very throughly. Are you finding them in the woods in pinestraw? Maybe I will go for a late night hunt and get real down and dirty. Anyways, good job man. Have fun. What county are you in again?

Im hunting in the grass , its not anything to do with thorough , i just have a wicked eye for weilii, plus im getting closer to understanding how they grow , weilii grow selective to an extent. hunting in forsyth county

this may sound a little far-fetched but there have been times where I have not seen a patch, but instead got a slight whiff of weilii. sure enough i look down and have stumbled upon a patch.

oh yea , ive found massive patches like that , caught a wiff out my car window , stopped and sure enuff found one of the biggest patches ive ever seen within 20 feet of walking

sure fire detection method is the smell.. its very distinctive and if theres a patch near-by thats a good way to track it down.. i want to train my dog to find them lol

i thought for sure i would stumble across some today with all the rain we've been getting. has anyone had much luck in the roswell area? i went to a few places i thought would be fruitful and neighborhoods today in cherokee county with no luck.. granted it isnt even august yet i guess im getting a little ahead of myself

They only grow in a few select counties in Northern Georgia.

You're not ahead of yourself... The spring always has one nice large flush before summer... The spring drought delayed the flush until now. Right now you have as best a chance as you would in the fall of finding a nice patch.

Dont procrastinate... The rest of the summer will be extremely dry for weilii until about late september/early october. A specific spot only flushes maybe 5 times a year... with a few straglers aside...

They're a great mushroom and even though ive hunted for 5 years now; I still get a puncturing wound in my softened heart when I see them growing so peacefully, yet they hold so much energy to change a persons life entirely...

so the stuff thats out there right now is probably a final flush from spring then right? not an early start to the season? i mean the fall season would technically be starting up next month right? last year it was mid-late september through mid november in our spot.. and it was nuts.. we were overflowing with them practically.. unfortunately i dont have access to that spot anymore.. but i can still look in that neighborhood and its golf courses : ) so i think ill be okay
