Mycelium only turns blue if you touch it or injure it in some way (oxidation). The most common blue mold or contamination is Penicillium. Your best bet it to toss this jar. If you don't you will probably find that it will contaminate your other cakes. You can use some antibiotics to get rid of contamination but it is pretty hard to use them with the cake method.

Most of the time if a jar has an odor, its contaminated. Mushrooms have a very distinct smell that you learn to know. Molds and bad stuff flat out stink in my opinion. If all else fails remember the old saying," When in doubt, Toss it out."
