Of course you can. Just think of it as a highly fibrous addition to your diet.36 hours later you'll have turds the size of housebricks, with sharp edges and all the resistance of buttered ice-cubes coming out of your arse. Enjoy!

I know that mycellium isnt dangerous to consume, but im also pretty sure it doesnt even contain psilocybin. I know it isnt dangerous to consume because i was breaking up the cakes for casing, and i ate lunch later without washing my hands (and they were very dirty). Just compare eating the cakes to eating a big chunk of dirt. And yes, eating a big chink of dirt is bad.

Someone said this in another post about this:Don't eat that shit!!! That's like eating a candy rapper because there's some flavor left on it! Pretty good analogy Link

shookster actually mycelium does contain psilocybin and it can be extracted but i dont think it can be extracted if it is grown on PF cakes with vermiculite but if you inoculate rye grain or another more edible spawn medium and let the spawn fully colonize the rye grain you can extract the magic. read the book "psilocybin production" it is all about extracting psilocybin/psilocin from mycelium. you can fill jars with a substrate material like rye grain and then once it is 100% colonized you can dry i and eat it if you dont mind eating rye grain (i have never tried it) or you can extract the magic using a simple chemistry set up. read the book.

Yes you can eat the cakes but like has been said before, dont eat vermiculite. Proof that there is psilocybin in the mycellium is that they blue, oxidation of psilocybin =P. I dunno if people would really be into eating the cakes at a party tho, its kinda wierd if ya havent gone thro the process or know what they really are. "what is the best way to eat your cakes if you dont have time to case them??" casing the cakes before eating them but after fruiting would not only be pointless, but would make it so you cant eat it heh. theres a file in the grow/find section about eating the cakes. just as long as its just like grain/rye/birdseed or something theyr ok to eat, but i dunno who likes eating mushy mycellium covered birdseed heh. the best experiance is definatly from the shrooms themselvs.------------------ Lady finger, dipped in moonlight writing "What for?" across the morning sky sunlight splatters, dawn with ansewer darkness shrugs and bids the day goodbye

I've tried this an it worked (but too late for your party). 5 1/2 pint fully colonized (spent) cakes were only good for one mild trip though. 1. Chop them up and dry them (very low heat and lots of moving air) 2. Blend them in your blender with lots of methanol (or any alcohol, the purer the better). The vermiculate may dull you blades a bit, so you could just grind them some other way to expose as much of the left over mycelium as possible. 3. Put the mixture in a large jar with a lid that more or less seals for a week, and shake it a couple of times a day. 4. Strain out all the left over cakes, keeping all of the liquid. Use an old nylon sock so you can squeeze more out and it doesn't absorb much of the liquid. 5. You can repeat the soaking/extraction and collecting liquid again (but only for a couple of days), but you probably won't extract much more. 6. Evaporate the alcohol completely (no more smell) and collect the crystaline residue (probably yellowish). I did this by floating my dish full of alcohol and magic in a large pot of slowly boiling water. 7. Eat a small amount of the residue to see how strong it is (unless you have a better way of measuring that). 8. Enjoy the rest of it. It probably sounds like a lot of work but it doesn't take too much and you should get an extra trip out of something you would otherwise throw away.

Put the cakes in a cotton cloth bag and let them soak for 15 minutes in boiling water.. then just drink the juice.
