Do you have Windows Vista?
    #7133976 -

?
What is the point of Vista? Other than looking smoother and sleeker, I admit.
But does it make your PC function better overall? Are you happy with Vista? Is it better than XP and how?

Lol, I just don't really see the point of upgrading to Vista....
Enlighten me

I guess the main upgrades are security related. I also believe its much more stable then xp.

i upgraded to vista and it was a big mistake. i just got done backing up all of my files, reformatting my harddrive and reloading XP.

vista is the biggest p.o.s operating system i have ever seen.

I had Windows Vista... for all of two days. Then I installed a proper operating system.

Vista is a marketing POS.

Shiny things usually cost a lot of money... with respect to Vista, the shiny things cost a lot of CPU. I would much rather use my CPU for something worth while rather than using it trying and make windows look like a Mac.

Yeah Vista is a bunch of bullshit IMHO. In now way, shape, or form am I going to dump cash to upgrade my system just to upgrade my OS. The only way I *might* do it is for DX10, but WTF, I'm still playing Diablo 2 and Counter-Strike 1.6 cause out of all the games I've played those are the only two that have kept my attention.

They wanted to upgrade all the PCs here in the office, and I told them NO. Then I told them again, NO NO NO.

I have Vista because it came with my new computer.  I don't mind it, but I'm not as particular about my OS as people seem to be in this forum

There are a few bugs, but I can say I've had zero security problems.

I don't think I'd spend a penny to upgrade though.

I have XP on my desktop and vista on my laptop. So far I haven't had much problem with it. I am also running the 64 bit version and haven't had to much trouble running 32 bit programs.

i've heard a fuck ton of problems with vista.

XP is perfect. before I had XP I ran Windows 2000 and that was more than enough. I could still be on 2000 and be fine with it.

Vista is pretty solid, despite such an overwhelming amount of bad-talk about it, it seems to be holding its ground.

The downside of Vista remains to be the beefed up driver requirements regarding hardware support, IMO. All that does is make it harder for the driver developers, many companies still can't seem to release decent drivers for Vista, one being ATI.

Many people can run Vista, in all it's glossy glory, with a fairly cheap GPU. But some can't afford a DX10 compatible GPU, which means you dont get to take full advantage of DirectX 10. Since most games these days heavily rely on mostly GPU, instead of CPU, your graphics card is just about as important as your processor. I've never had any problems gaming, but I've got everything overclocked including the GPU, so the only real gaming problem seems to be in actual game design, instead of gameplay.

Vista will be mainstream just like XP was, so many want to wait until a first service pack, or until a bunch of security updates to fix possible holes.. Run Vista and start gettin used to it, and help in the development of a more stable OS. The bugs and holes can't be found unless its in the wild.

I'm not sure if that ReadyBoost crap works, I've got a 4gb flash drive configured for readyboost, but I never noticed a change in performance. Anyone have noticeable performance gains using it?

Oh, and dont use that Windows Defender crap, it's worthless.
