I crumble and case any spent cakes I have. Usually they will flush once again. If you want to add more nutrient to encourage more flushes, try adding 2-3 jars of sterilized substrate ontop of a casing. I heard someone say they tried that and it worked. I dunno? Experiment. You'll be suprised what you'll figure out.

Try this:
Crumble your spent cakes, put a layer of ground dung and a thin layer of casing.Put in dark warm place for a week or more then put in a terrarium......
If the casing don't go contaminated you'll get flushes again....

Peace

This may go without saying for all you veterans, but if you're going to case spent cakes, be sure that in the previous weeks when you're harvesting from your cakes that you never reach into the terrarium without first washing your hands very very thoroughly. Otherwise you'll get crazy contams when you case them.

hmmm me being not so veteranized yet I have played in the terrium w/o washing thoroughly. I am still going to get crazy w/ the spent cakes and see what happens. Q-in what ever I do should I sterilize any new nutrients such as dung that I introduce?
