casing after first flush

I have a few cakes ahead of the others and have already had thier first flush, and I was wonder if casing now would work. Any experience/suggestions would be nice

Yeah, it could work. Probably not as well as if you'd cased in the first place, but it should.

Be very careful here, though - since it's already produced once, the mycelium is likely weakened. By crumbling (or cutting, or anything) the cake, you are weakening the mycelial network and opening it up for contamination. It will take some time to reestablish itself.

Would colonizing the casing with a full cake work better, you think? kinda bulky but it might work. Just a thought

Hmmm... I think it might work well if you just cut it in half horizontally. Casing the whole thing would probably work too, but the mycelium would probably get better hydration if there's more surface area.
