Overlay/Aborting Pins Problem (pics) Please HELP!

This is an uncased bulk compost cake at the end of its first flush. Most new pins are aborts and there?s heavy cobwebby overlay. This first flush produced over 100 aborts and almost all new pins are aborting.
What is the best solution to get a good second/third flush?
Your help is MOST apreciated!

After picking your first flush, scratch your cake. Drag a fork thru it like a tiller. Resume mistings.

In reply to:

Exerpted from the FAQ: Deep scratching after a healthy first flush is BAD INFORMATION. Pins for your first and second flush are produced during the initial intiation. If you deep scratch after harvesting the first flush, you kill all the pins for the second flush. This deep scratching at this point does two things, it prolongs the time between the first and second flush, and more importantly, it will spread any contamination that might be presently contained.
Thanks anyway. Someone have a better idea?

well, if all those pins that are being formed for the second flush turn to aborts, then what the hell does it matter? try picking off all those aborts and case that motherfucker.

I've been thinking the same thing, with a possible variation or 2... Dunk it briefly to replace some moisture and then case it in coir... or... Bust it up and use it to spawn another 3 pounds of compost, then case it in coir.
Whadaya think?
