Fibromyalgia therapy i suggested to my sick friend...

My friend suffers daily from fibromyalgia. Not much is known about the disease, but doctors believe it is psychosomatic...

My friend has tried every treatment and still finds no relief. He has to take morphine daily just to function. I told him that perhaps if the disease is caused by the persons own mind, then perhaps a guided trip(s) could be beneficial to discovering something about his self and or his past that could help.

The problem is the worse the FM gets, it is a huge stress on the mind to be in pain all the time. And when the mind and body are stressed the FM gets worse. Its like a downward spiral.

I was talking to him about a possible Mescaline or Psilocybin experience in the right setting to maybe help uncover some new light, or maybe just give him some inspiration about life, or ANYTHING. Anyways Im not a doctor so this idea has no credibility, of course. But I thought it could possibly be a form (or attempt) of treatment. I know when I used mescaline so much about my own personality, behavior, and actions was revealed to me that I was normally blind to. I just figured a profound insight could be beneficial to a psychosomatic disorder.

What do yall think?

I find this funny, because more than half of those "diseases" are complete bullshit.
im not making fun of your friend in any way..... just that it does seem more like an excuse to feel sorry for yourself than an actual debilitating biophysiological problem.

I definately think there are some people like that but my friend is not one of them. He tries everything he can to help himself, not pity himself. And he is in chronic pain around the clock, nor does he abuse his pain medication or anything like that.

So assuming he is actually in chronic pain that is out of his control, do you think this guided trip would be any form of therapy?

No one knows what causes fibromyalgia, sometimes when Dr.s cant figure out a diagnosis for a certain amount of symptoms its fibromyalgia, it could be caused from a large variety of things, psychosomatic, allergens, back trauma in the past.

I do not agree with those who think fibromyalgia is bullshit. While I do agree that part of it is psychosomatic, there is a part of it that is very real. Five years ago I got sick, very sick. 10 months after it started I was diagnosed with Lupus and fibromyalgia. It was a long, painful time and when they told me it was psychosomatic I remember looking down at my knee that was the size of baseball thinking, "wtf? Seriously? " It's a strange, sad place it takes you. Anyhoo, five years later I still live with it, but it does take strength of mind to get you there. I've still have aches and pains and crazy things happening sometimes, but now I just don't let it bother me. Your friend can't let it be their life. It'll take you over. You can't be sad over it or stressed out or it will get worse. You just have to sorta step back and just chuckle and deal with it. Sorry if that doesn't make sense.

I don't take medications for any of it anymore. My lupus is no longer really present. One day I just decided I was going to live different. So I gave up the meds, started hitting my bong again (almost 3 years sober), and started eating differently. He should get a book on it. And I do suggest doing some soul searching, with or without psychedelics. Rolling for me is great, it's the only time nothing really aches.

Thank you very much Ill definately pass on the message to him. Im really glad to hear you are doing well, my mother had Lupus, so it sounds like you are in great shape.

My friend actually wants nothing more than to be off the medications but he says if he even forgets to take ONE of his doses in a day the pain is crippling...

Ive been trying to get him to take some trips with me as a form of alternative medicine but he wont buy it...

The intent of this post was to ask if you guys thought psychedelic experience would be beneficial in any sort of way...
