My Situation (yellow growth and yield questions)

Okay, here we go. I have three PF Tek jars, and I put them in the aquarium a couple of days ago. Since then, they have immediately puffed out and pins are starting to show up. But on one of the cakes, there was a patch of mycelium that had started to lose its color and was looking clearish. When I put it in, it puffed out even worse than the rest of the mycelium, except it was yellowish in color. My friend told me that was okay, so I let it grow, but it kept getting darker and I heard that wasn't good. I wiped it off with a napkin. Since then, nothing has grown there, but I was expecting that. The rest of the jar looks fine. Has anyone seen this?
Also, for three PF Tek cakes that are doing well, what are the average yields? Thanks.
