Second Venture. ID Request. Possible cubes?

I just came back from my second trip from the geilds. and found some more mushrooms. Once again in Puerto Rico. Stems are hollow and bruise blue. Found in cow dung. I have several pictures below. Including spore prints that seem to be purple. Any info would be appreciated. Hopefully I found some real fruit.

can I eat them fresh, if so how many should I take. Anothing thing is are there poisonous look alikes?

To an inexperienced eye, there are som look-a-likes. Usually posted here are Agaricus and Chlorophyllum molybdites, the latter of which is poisonous. However, you definitely have Psilocybe cubensis once again. And again, great pictures. Your spore print picture is very good. Didn't you eat a couple a few days ago? It can be tricky to dose these fresh, but you can always eat 1 or 2, then wait an hour and eat another if nothing is happening. There can also be a lot of variation in potency. The younger fruits with the caps not fully open will be more potent than older specimens. Also, if you did eat a couple the other day then you may have some tolerance. People often need to wait a week or so between trips.

Well I ate 2 caps last night including the stems but I didnt get any effect off of them. But since the feild that im musing are full of these things than ill just eat more later on tonight. But im glad enough to find them in the first place, are these usually common?

Cubensis indeed. Try letting the mushrooms dry first. For some reason they always treated me better that way. Field cubensis are always week IMO anyways, so don't be afraid to eat 4-5 dry grams. Nice mushrooms you found too!

Yes cubensis is common..

And IMO one of the prettiest avtive mushrooms there is... It looks so Elegent Like it dressed itself in the mirror...

Well im glad that theres some special mushrooms that I can gather in my own back yard. Well not my own but at my grandmothers and here till tomorrow and back to florida I go. Another question Im implied to ask is how should I dry them and how long does it take. At the moment I have them in a paper pag at room temperature. Sorry for all the questions if they seem annoying to you. Im just a complete novice at this, but have been read up on them for the past 3 days. And the people on this community have been more helpful than I could have imagined. Thanks for the help. You guys are the best.

Well to tell the truth I have little experience with drying, I usually eat fresh.... But just lay them all out on there caps and leave a fan on them for about a day or 2 until they are cracker dry

One good way to dry them is to lay them out on newspaper, and then blow a fan over them until they are cracker[/] dry. Many prefer to consume them fresh though. Generally, a fresh mushroom weighs about 10 times the weight of a dry mushroom, so you can roughly calculate dosages that way. Since potency can vary from collection to collection, this is a precise enough calculation. Also keep in mind the higher potency of young mushrooms vs. old mushrooms. I suspect that most dosage guidelines assume a collection with a mixed age distribution. But if you have nothing but young fruits, you'll have to adjust accordingly.

Thanks for the input. I wish there was a faster way of drying them I leave back to Florida tomorrow at 7pm. I wish i could bring a couple back with me on the plane but I dont think theres a safe way to do so. I wish there was a way i dont want all my mushrooms to go to waste ya know? :frown:

They grow in Florida too you know. They can be dried faster in an oven or food dehydrator, check out that link. Don't bring them on the plane.

How exactly do I dry them in an oven? And I also live in south florida i have to travel to central florida to gaineville to find them. Which i dont have the time for :frown:

You could always make some tea if you have access to alot of them if you don't like the fresh taste. The triip will hit you quicker and you can redose easier if your not where you want to be. There's methods on here for that also.

Thats good to know. But id rather eat them. i dont mind the taste if they taste like a regular store shroom. And since I cant take them on them on the plane with me im just gonna eat them fresh. Should i try cleaning them to reduce any bacteria or whhatnot on them? and if so how should I do it. I read about boiling them but i heard they may reduce the potency of the shrooms. So I dont know.

Just rinse them off, make sure there's not cow shit on them. You'll be fine.

Thank yas! ill just cut them stems from the dung and rinse the caps. Sounds like I should be good. Thanks for the info. Hopefully ill be able to trip for my first time.

if you really want to take them on a plane, powder them and get some capsules. conceal inside some kind of pill bottle.
