I agree that the persian army would much better represent the American forces... But in an american movie theater looking around at all the people there getting puffed up and such, I couldnt help but feel that they relate to the spartan army more.  Theyre obviously the good guys.  Ah, but whatever whatever.  It is all how you take it in

so far as the war propaganda, it's only if you take it that way.  it is entirely possible and probable that frank miller created it with that very thing in mind, however you read into it all that you want to.  i don't give a flying fuck if frank miller or the producers or the director support the war.  art is subject to personal interpretation.

hell, the way i see it, america is more closely related to the persian army than to sparta.  the giant war mecha forcing it's will upon other smaller nations.  an ignorant leader who believes he can't be touched and that his absurd behavior is condoned by god.

EVERY movie can be interpretted as propaganda for this cause or that cause or this war or that abortion bill or this human rights organization or that fundamentalist attack or the list goes on and on...

I just didn't like 300 cause it was kinda boring.  After the inital "wow" coolness of the animation and fight scenes wore off.  I was left with an hour left of movie to watch.

I thought the view was more xerxes has slaves that are fighting because they will die if they don't, and they will die if they do. They're slaves, they're fighting because commanded, not wanting. The Spartas were proud warriors fighting because they enjoyed it, they were bred to fight.

The movie explained that. I never saw it as them portraying the persian armies as less than human, just slaves that weren't warriors.

hahahaha that movie was horrible

i got in for free, and still left halfway through the movie

the spartans were perverted into sounding/acting like U.S. Marines

the dialog was over the top dramatic and cheesey

the plot, was there even a plot? as with most movies today there is no subtly, no symbolism, no elements tot he movie you have to figure out. Forest Gump, american beauty, easyrider... now theres something with a double meaning you have to debate as you watch the movie.

special effects? not a big fan of em. write a decent story and youdont need them. at all.

i laughed alot and people kept getting mad at me. xerxes was funny, and when they talked you just had to laugh and imitate them.

lousy, horrible movie.

so movies HAVE to have a double meaning by your standards to be good?

jesus, movies are supposed to be entertaining, that's it. if it didn't entertain you, then that is fine, but if other people enjoyed it and aren't such cynical pricks like yourselves, then leave em alone.

Yup I hated it.

There's only so many times its fun to watch incredibly graphic fighting by men with silly armour.

I thought the whole "romantic" element to the plot was ridiculous!
