Eastern spirituality for noobs
    #6913889 -

This summer I want to find more balance and harmony with my life. I know some yoga, mediation, and breathing exercises will do me a lot of good. Problem is I have no idea where to begin, especially with the yoga. I have the basic idea as to how to meditate, but I never seem to stick with it. I guess I need to make it more of a routine. Anyway, does anyone know a good way to get started into yoga, meditation, etc.? I am looking to get both the physical and mental aspects of yoga so please give me something that will have me moving around or is strenuous. muchos thanks for your support.

I don't do yoga or meditate, but I can tell you that a lot of what you're looking for is mental.

I highly recommend this book:

You won't be able to read it less than twenty times once you read it the first.

if your gonna do yoga, focus on stretches for the back. it really helps with meditation, they both support each other. and if your gonna meditate, it's best to make it a daily routine so it can build on itself. just start off with 5 minutes in the morning and work your way up if you want. don't overdo it or you'll say fuck it. it's best to do in the morning.

after a while of daily meditation you will notice you will be more aware throughout the day and will have more energy.

"mindfulness in plain english" is a good book i started off with that should give you a good understanding..

Yeah, im just gonna stick with it nd make meditation a daily thing, but im still kinda in the dark with yoga. Anybody know any good websites or books that would be good for a beginner. Ive heard that its best to learn yoga from a teacher or guru because of all the subtle details in the streches. I would take classes but everywhere ive looked is just so god damn expensive.

^^^ This sounds cool. I'm definantly gonna check that book out. I think I understand what I need to do for spiritual growth, but what about in terms of physical development. Anybody know any good yoga to build streangth and stretch the body?
