definately to follow up RH, humidity too high, I'm surprised by the airing, though, that's probably what my shroomies need to grow more, tnx RH, and you could raise the temps to like 75, but that will lower the potency from what I've read, but by how much, I know not. of course, I am just an amature.

The shrooms have been cased for about 2 weeks. I have a thin layer of water in the Rubbermaid containers (it doesn't come into contact with the shrooms though, they are in trays on top of the water) which help with the humidity. The walls are have a little bit of condensation, but not much.

I have the thermostat at 70 degrees... doesn't really work that well though, that's why I was thinking that it might be too cold. Overall my mushrooms have taken way too long to grow, and I need to induce fruiting SOMEHOW... any ideas?

It is true that shrooms (cubies) that are grown slower (lower temps) tend to be more potent. But so what if you have to take a quarter gram more? Right now you want to get pinns and to get to harvest as soon as possible.

First, assure your casing has the proper moisture content. Then make the humidity adjustment that Ryche suggested. Bring the temp to 84 degrees. Hold humidity and temp constant for 2 days.

Then cold shock for 48 hours at between 50 and 65 degrees.

After cold shocking bring temp to 74 degrees. Wait for pinn set to appear.

Reduce humidity to 90% or so and raise temp to 84 degrees again. Maintain these parameters and a moist casing till harvest.

There you go...it has never failed to work for me.

You haven't conveyed any information that would indicate you have a problem for which deep scratching is the answer.

If you have mycelium that has matted at the substrate/casing interface (due to overwatering) or if you have mycelium overlay on the surface of the casing...or if you had a dry cake...then deep scratching would be part of your remediation strategy.

Good Luck!
