ban gas may 15th!

emails have been going around, people have been talking about it, the date has been set DO NOT BUY GAS ON MAY 15TH! maybe you already have herd, maybe not, just get out and spread the word!

its about time we all stood up to the fucking pigs who own the gas companies, if there is good participation prices should go down substantially and they loose millions.

that is absurd. it will only increase sales the day before and the day after. the only way to "stick it" to the gas companies is to not use gas at all. there is also a thing called "sticky prices," and i hate to break it to you, prices won't adjust after one day of being gas free.

seriously, what the shit? taking an entire month from driving might help out, but a single day of not using won't do crap. Especially if you continue driving on that day, you're merely prolonging the purchase, not preventing it.

damn that is far... the most i have to ride is like 5 miles but i live in a small city.. the air is so clean and it smells great outside cuz not that many people drive

Dude I gotta get to work that day. Even if I don't buy gas that day, I'm still burning just as many fossil fuels. I think a better idea would be to have a "don't burn fossil fuels day". But even that wouldn't have an impact and would be as silly as "buy nothing day" that people try to promote for the day after Thanksgiving.

Thats nothing!  Its 34.6 miles from my house to work.  Then I get in my work truck and drive many, many more.  I have driven 187 miles just to get to a jobsite in the morning.

A bike is impractical in my life.  I can't even get to work and back on one tank of gas a week in my personal truck (I actually get 4 days of driving to work and home on a tank).  And right now that tank of gas is costing me about $75.  Needless to say my personal gasoline budget is rather large.  Probably more then some of you spend on rent.

Oh, and ditto to all those who stated how stupid these "gas bans" are. Anyone with a minimal understanding of economics can see how ridiculous it is.
