Since gas prices are so high..

Don't forget to check your tire pressure and make sure they're accurately aired up.
Fuel injector cleaner couldn't hurt if you haven't done it in awhile.
Neither could an oil change.
If anyone's got any other tips for improving gas mileage, please post.

1.
Keep your engine tuned up. Incorrect fuel ratio, bad spark plugs and incorrect spark timing can have a big effect on gas mileage. 2.
Don't use your air conditioner (A/C) unless you really need it. The A/C compressor puts an extra strain on the engine. 3.
Make sure your tires are properly inflated. Under inflated tires cause more resistance to travel. 4.
Avoid stop and go traffic by taking alternative routes or less congested travel times. 5.
Ask other people with the same type of car what kind of gas mileage they get, it may alert you to a problem with your car. 6.
Use a good engine oil, preferably a synthetic or standard oil treated with a friction reducing oil additive. These have been known to improve fuel economy by as much as 12%. 7.
Reduce the weight in your vehicle as much as possible. (Good excuse to get the mother-in-law out of the car....) 8.
Use your cruise control whenever possible. 9.
Keeping your highway speed at 55 mph can improve you gas mileage by as much as 25%, compared to 75 mph. (Yeah, I know--this one's tough for us too) 10.
Avoid trying to increase speed while climbing a hill, your engine is already working hard trying to overcome gravity. 11.
Keep your windows closed when possible. Open windows actually reduce gas mileage compared to using the A/C. 12.
Remove accessories, such as luggage rack, etc. that lower the aerodynamics of your vehicle.
I'm far too lazy to line up those quotes. Click here for better reading: http://www.mpgplus.com/

The gas prices are so minuscule around here, it isn't even worth adjusting to.
I can get gas for 2.70-2.90, depending on the station.

most automobiles get about 28% more gas milage driving at 50 MPH than 70 mph and 21% at 55mph vs. 70mph
at speed of greater than 40mph it is more fuel efficient to drive with the air conditionar on and windows up because of the air drag effect.
the Environment Protection Agency shows it is more ecconomical to turn the engine off if you plan on staying idle for more than 60 seconds.
underinflated tires waste as much as one gallon out of every 20 gallons of gas. greater fuel economy can be achieved if you inflate the tires to the maximume air pressure listed on the sidewall of the tire.

Yes, it does. I remember driving to Colorado (from Illinois) with my family, my dad refused to use the air for the majority of the trip for that reason.
I was listening to Bill Hicks and he said his dad said the same thing... gave me a good laugh.

AWesome tip man.
A cold air intake helps with milage too, although only slightly.

I thought ahead and bought a little VW diesel that gets 50mpg.
That's like getting 25mpg and buying fuel for $1.50/gal.
Does anybody here remember $1.50/gal gas?
